Ever wonder how artists use art and science to create movies that transport us to other times and places. Come explore the film making process and jobs of artists who work to make movies come to life. Campers will explore Claymation, film making, sound and props production. Over the course of the week campers explore a variety of techniques in several art mediums including: clay, sculpture, paint, mixed media, and stop action film. The week concludes with a gallery showing featuring artworks created by campers for family and friends.

Classes:
Making Pictures Move: Explore the early science of animation.  Campers will learn how optical toys create the illusion of movements and try their hand in making the toys.

Metamorphosis: It’s time to CLAY! In this class, campers will explore the fascinating process of developing and creating Claymation characters.

Lights Camera Action: Campers will flex their creative muscles creating a Claymation film. All aspects of film production process will be explored including storytelling, lighting, sound production and film making techniques.

Magical Places: Learn about how scene designers and prop masters create film environments for films. Campers will then work to create a set for their Claymation characters.

Art pops up in unexpected places in the 21st century. Explore how contemporary artists are moving beyond traditional art museums to exhibit their artworks on buildings, bridges and streets to change the way we see these everyday places. Campers will explore the new methods and technology that have inspired contemporary artists in the areas of projection art, graffiti, street art, and public installations. Campers will use a variety of art techniques in several art mediums including: watercolor, paint, sculpture, silk screen printing and mixed media. Our week concludes with an informal art show for friends and family featuring art projects created by campers.

Classes:
Light and Shadow: Discover how artists use light and shadow in creating projection art! Campers will work together to create installation art pieces and experiment with a new way of expressing their inner artist.

The Art of Graffiti: Is it art? Or is it vandalism? Get to know the artists who turn graffiti into gallery worthy artworks. Campers will learn the techniques and use variety of drawing and painting materials used by graffiti artists, J. Besset and Ink4rt.

Art for the People: Learn about the street art of Banksy and Mentalgassi , campers will explore why these artist have chosen the street as their canvas. Campers will create artworks inspired by their works using silk screen printing techniques.

Street Art: Inspired by the colorful and imaginative public art works of Tessie Barrera, Lukas Vering and Ugo Rondinone, campers will experiment with 3D space, scale, and materials.
